“No to Kings” protests against the president Donald Trump His administration’s policies are scheduled to roll out in cities across the country on Saturday declaring that “America has no kings.”
“We stand together against abuse of power, cruelty, and corruption. On October 18, we come together to remind President Trump and his supporters: America has no kings!” The movement’s website mentions upcoming Saturday protests.
Protests declaring that America “has no kings” were first mobilized in February on President’s Day to denounce the Trump administration’s government efficiency management and federal government cuts. However, the “No Kings” movement gained national prominence in June, when Trump held a military parade in honor of the US military’s 250th anniversary, which also marked his 79th birthday.
Tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Washington, Los Angeles, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and elsewhere to protest what they saw as Trump’s “coronation” day, as well as other administration policies, including ongoing deportation efforts.

“The world saw the power of the people. Protests in every country and around the world drowned President Trump’s birthday parade. His attempt to turn Juneteenth into a coronation collapsed, and the story became a force for a movement rising up against his authoritarian power grab,” No Kings explains.
Four months later, “no kings.” Protests It will be held in cities such as Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Hartford, Connecticut, to protest the Trump administration with a large focus on speaking out against the administration’s efforts to deport millions of illegal immigrants residing in the United States. The group states on its website that it expects that “millions across the country” will “march against authoritarian politics and billionaire takeovers.”

“President Trump has redoubled his efforts. His administration is sending masked agents onto our streets, to terrorize our communities,” the No Kings website said. “They are targeting immigrant Families, profiling people, arresting and detaining them without judicial orders. Threatening to bypass the elections. Access to health care, environmental protection and education when families need it most. Rigging maps to silence voters Ignoring mass shootings in our schools and in our communities. “Raising the cost of living while distributing huge giveaways to billionaire allies, while families struggle.”
The protests are being organized by left-wing groups like Indivisible, a progressive grassroots organization behind anti-Trump protests dating back to the 2016 election, as well as other groups like the American Federation of Teachers, the American Civil Liberties Union, Greenpeace, the Human Rights Campaign, MoveOn, National Nurses United, and the International Union of Public Citizen and Service Employees, according to for its website.

The group repeatedly calls on participants to protest peacefully on its website. The “No Kings” protests in Los Angeles in June turned chaotic, as “agitators who came here for the purpose of creating chaos” attacked police officers, the Los Angeles County sheriff told local media at the time.
Saturday’s protests are expected to focus on Trump’s immigration policies, including Trump’s “alleged authoritarian takeover of cities, deployment of federal troops, takeover of local police departments, and funding of mass arrests and deportations,” as well as the movement’s ongoing claims that Trump is acting more like a king than a president.
What to know about today’s anti-Trump “No Kings” rallies across the US
“President Trump has openly said he wants a third term and is already behaving like a king — seizing control of D.C., threatening other cities, and using federal troops against his own people. But the American people do not bow to kings. Together, we will peacefully mobilize, once again, in large numbers to reject this corruption and abuse of power — it’s part of our DNA as a country,” the group’s website reads.

The Trump administration has been waging an immigration blitz since Trump was sworn in again on Jan. 20, with federal law enforcement officials such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents converging on cities in targeted efforts to remove illegal immigrants. Trump has simultaneously targeted individual U.S. cities for sweeping crime purges, including federalizing the U.S. Washington, DCpolice force in August, including ordering the National Guard to the city, as Los Angeles, Memphis and Portland face similar efforts to reduce crime. However, Trump’s attempt to roll out anti-crime initiatives in Portland and Los Angeles has been tied up in the courts.

The protests come on the heels of Trump and his administration reaching a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which included the president traveling to Israel and Egypt earlier in October to speak with world leaders directly, and as Trump holds talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday and meets with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday at the White House as part of a continuation of the separate war between those countries since 2022.
