Thousands of Palestinians have escaped from intensifying Israeli strikes in parts of Gaza City in recent days

Hamas agreed to the latest proposal from the regional brokers to a ceasefire in Gaza and the hostage agreement with Israel, a source in the Palestinian Armed Group told the BBC.

It is said that the proposal of Egypt and Qatar depends on a framework presented by the American envoy Steve Witkev in June.

Hamas will see free of half of the remaining Israeli hostages – 20 of whom are believed to be alive – in two batches during a 60 -day preliminary truce. There will also be negotiations on a permanent ceasefire.

It is not clear that Israel’s response will be, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said last week that he would accept a deal only if “all hostages were released at once.”

In a video issued after reports of Hamas approval, Netanyahu did not comment directly but said that “among them you can get one impression – Hamas is under enormous pressure.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, said that he was at a turning point in a 22 -month war, with “focusing on strengthening strikes against Hamas in Gaza City.”

This came when witnesses on the ground in Gaza City reported that the Israeli tanks supported by air and artillery strikes had suddenly made in the southern Sabra neighborhood, surrounded by schools and clinic schools run by hundreds of displaced people.

Later this week, the Israeli Council of Ministers is expected to approve the army’s plan to occupy Gaza City, as the intense Israeli strikes have already pushed thousands of people to flee.

Netanyahu announced Israel’s intention to expand its attack and conquer all of Gaza – including areas whose 2.1 million Palestinian population has resorted to a shelter – after indirect talks with Hamas in the ceasefire deal last month.

The Hamas delegation, led by the chief negotiator, Khalil Al -Hayya, was in Cairo since two mediators met last week who saw a window of an opportunity for a new agreement.

On Monday morning, a senior Hamas official told the BBC that the delegation was reviewing a new shooting suggestion that he received the day before.

Badr Abdati said that the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, visited the Egyptian capital “to put the maximum pressure on the two sides to reach a deal as soon as possible.”

Speaking during his trip to the Rafah border crossing with Gaza, Abdati stressed the insistence of the ceasefire to alleviate the deep humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories. He said that the current situation on Earth was “behind the imagination.”

On Monday evening, the Hamas source told the BBC that the group had provided a written response to the brokers, saying it had agreed to the ceasefire proposal without any modifications or conditions.

According to a Palestinian official familiar with the conversations, the proposal “reflects” the proposal presented by Steve Witkev two months ago, which Hamas rejected.

Witkoff suggested a 60 -day truce that would see the launch of 10 live hostages by Hamas and the bodies of 18 other hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons. He also said that the serious negotiations to end the war will occur during the armistice.

On Sunday night, hundreds of thousands of Israelis gathered in Tel Aviv to demand that their government agree on a deal with Hamas to end the war now and bring all hostages home.

The hostages families fear that another attack in Gaza City can be at risk there.

“I am afraid that my son will be poured,” said Danny Miran, who was detained by his 48 -year -old son, Omri, said.

Netanyahu accused the demonstrators of hardening the Hamas negotiation situation.

The Palestinians also called for an immediate end to the war in a protest in Gaza City on Monday.

“Hamas and its demands, and the demands that are negotiated, do not represent me. I want to live in peace. I want peace of mind. Our only request is peace and safety for our children.”

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump wrote on social media: “We will only see the return of the remaining hostages when they face and destroy Hamas !!! The more it happens, the better the chances of success.”

The Sunday demonstration in Tel Aviv called for an immediate agreement to secure the issuance of all hostages

Israeli Prime Minister said that the war will end only once all hostages are launched and that Hamas disarmed it. He also wants to be attributed to Gaza, keeping it under Israeli security control, and managed by an unrelated administration or the Palestinian Authority.

Hamas called for a comprehensive agreement that would see the hostages who keep Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, in addition to the extent of the war and the withdrawal of the full Israeli forces from Gaza. She says she will not disarm her unless an independent Palestinian state is created.

The Israeli army launched a campaign in Gaza in response to the Hamas -led attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, where about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others took hostage.

At least 62,004 people have been killed in Gaza since then, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health in the region.

Most of the people of Gaza were displaced several times; More than 90 % of homes are estimated at damage or destruction; Healthcare, water, sanitation and hygiene systems collapsed; Universal food security experts have warned that “the worst star scenario currently plays” due to lack of food.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health in Gaza stated that five other people, including two children, had passed away as a result of malnutrition over the past 24 hours, which raised the total number of such deaths from the beginning of the war to 263.
