We are two weeks away Government shutdown. There is no movement from either side. Does President Trump seem to enjoy this?
“Democrats are getting killed during the shutdown because we are shutting down programs that are Democratic programs that we opposed,” the president bragged. “They’ll never come back in many cases. So, we’re able to do things that we couldn’t do before. So, we’re shutting down programs that are democratic programs that we wanted to shut down or that we never wanted to happen.”
At the same time, he added, his administration would maintain “Republican programs.”
As a result, the fired feds are angry.

“Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame!” chanted a group of federal workers at the RIF, egged on by Democrats in Virginia and Maryland during a protest at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
the Trump administration Sickle eliminated Christopher Bomford’s job at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in February.
“It’s very difficult to find a job in this economy,” Bomford said. “It is very difficult for me to find my next step, especially since I have invested a lot of time and money into majoring in international relations.”
Bomford said he believed he could spend his “career serving the American people.”
But he is unemployed now.

“I would love to be there for you and be able to serve. But unfortunately, the administration has other ideas,” Bomford said.
The FDA just canned Jessica Weinberg. Weinberg says even her 6-year-old son recognized the financial distress the family was now facing.
“He knows the mother is out of work, and we’re worried about paying our bills,” Weinberg said.
So, her son offered to 3D print Minecraft Legos for sale.
“He didn’t want to make money so he could buy himself more toys, which is what he always asked for, but so he could help us pay our mortgage,” Weinberg said. “It was the sweetest, saddest thing he ever said.”
Johnson raises his stakes on Schumer as the government closes the barrels in the third week
The Office of Management and Budget warned people on social media to “close the floodgates and stand up to Democrats’ intransigence.”
Republicans are doubling down. That’s why nothing has developed during the lockdown for weeks.
“There is nothing to negotiate,” Senate Majority Leader John Thune said.
House Speaker Mike JohnsonThe Los Angeles Republican is refusing to recall the House until Senate Democrats give in to the GOP’s demand to fund the government — without any add-ons — until Nov. 21.
This means no hearings in the House of Representatives. In fact, the House held its last hearing — in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the crime — on September 29.

As a result, the Council meets for only a few seconds every three days in what is called a “formal” session. He knocks the House, conducts some quick ministerial business like the Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer and then bangs the gavel without legislative business, debate or vote.
Democrats in the House of Representatives note the clear absence of the Republican Party.
“They need to get their asses back to work,” said Rep. Glenn Ivey, Democrat of Maryland.
During the 2013 government shutdown, Congress deliberated competing spending proposals. In fact, the House passed one measure and sent it to the Senate. But the Senate immediately rejected it, and returned the measure to the House of Representatives. It was a 45-minute round trip from the House to the Senate to get that spending package.
The House also held hearings on Obamacare and veterans issues during the 2013 shutdown.
Both bodies handled some work on the ground during the record 34-day closure period that extended from late 2018 to early 2019.
Congress even postponed the Congressional Gold Medal ceremony for 90-year-old Willie O’Ree, the first black player in the NHL.

Although there has been little action by Congress during this shutdown, Johnson acknowledges that the House of Representatives is taking care of the matter some Tasks – behind the scenes.
“House Oversight Committee lawyers during the shutdown are still doing their jobs. They have been there New York City “Coming through Epstein’s estate files,” Johnson said.
truly.
A Democrat succeeds her late father in Congress as the Republican Party’s majority shrinks
Johnson still rejects the seat of Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva, D-Ariz. She is the daughter of the late Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., who died of cancer in March after serving in Congress for more than two decades. The younger Grijalva won the special election to succeed her father more than three weeks ago.
The congresswoman-elect will provide a pivotal 218th signature on a petition to bypass the Speaker of the House and force a vote on the House floor on the release of the Epstein files. Johnson has long said his refusal to swear in Grijalva had nothing to do with the Epstein files. He even said the House would split it “whenever it wants.” But then Johnson said he couldn’t do that because the House of Representatives does not meet in regular session. He added that Grijalva deserves the “pomp and circumstance” of a full session of the House of Representatives to become a member.
“Doesn’t your resistance (to being sworn in) add fuel to the fire regarding the Epstein files?” I really asked you.
“No,” Johnson replied, saying the House wanted to release the files in an orderly manner and not reveal the names of some of Epstein’s female victims. “We have a duty and a responsibility. You can’t just wave a wand, you know, just open the floodgates.”

Democrats don’t believe Johnson’s logic.
“She’s not worried about the pomp and circumstance. She wants to do the job she was elected to do,” said Rep. Greg Stanton, D-Ariz. “By the way, the speaker skipped the pomp and circumstance with the two Florida Republicans when they were formally sworn in the day after their election. I mean, the hypocrisy is blatant and unacceptable.”
This is a reference to Johnson’s swearing-in before Representatives Randy Fine, Republican of Florida, and Jimmy Patronis, Republican of Florida, immediately after they won their special elections in the spring. Republicans argued they needed Fine and Patronis’ votes to help pass the big, beautiful bill.
“No member of this body should have the power to ignore the will of the voters in a particular district,” Stanton said.
‘We don’t want anything’: Trump on GOP position on government shutdown
Johnson noted that former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., did not swear in Rep. Julia Letlow, R-Los Angeles, for 25 days after she won the 2021 special election. But that was partly because the House was out for an extended period of time because of the coronavirus.
In fact, Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif delay He was sworn in more than a month after winning the 2017 special election. Gomez was a member of the California state legislature. His voice was essential In Sacramento To help Democrats pass controversial climate change legislation. Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., was the minority leader at the time. McCarthy even called on Pelosi and Gomez to filibuster at the time.
So, don’t expect a resolution to Grijalva’s circumstances anytime soon. Not to mention the government shutdown.

“We’re not making much progress this week,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, lamented. “I think both sides think there’s political advantage for them in sticking to their positions. Until such time as they think they might back down a little bit, I don’t think you have the incentive.”
Until there is a stimulus, nothing will change with the lockdown.
