“Depending on the manufacturer of A Giving medication“Patients with valid prescriptions will be able to access savings through easy-to-use coupons that can be printed or downloaded to their phone or through channels created by the manufacturer and integrated into TrumpRx.gov,” the announcement said.

TrumpRx is not an online pharmacy, as it does not prescribe, distribute or sell medications directly.

Doctors’ views

Dr. Brett Osborne, a neurosurgeon and longevity expert in Florida, said he considers TrumpRx a “well-established concept,” one that puts cheap, cash-based drug prices at the forefront.

“Prescription drugs are one quiet way families are stressed every month,” he told Fox News Digital. “Anything that makes prices more visible and pushes them lower is a step in the right direction.”

Older Americans stop taking GLP-1 weight-loss drugs for four main reasons

Dr. Mark Siegel, Fox News’ chief medical analyst, called TrumpRx “a step in the right direction.”

“We lack price transparency in the system – drug makers and pharmacy benefit managers raise prices, which… Insurance companies “Pay, but then shift the cost to the consumer in terms of higher premiums, co-payments and deductibles,” Siegel told Fox News Digital.

Trump Rx’s goal, according to Siegel, is not to impose government price controls, but rather to increase consumer choice, allowing them to pay directly for drugs in amounts that do not exceed what other countries pay.

“TrumpRx will help provide access to important medications that are unaffordable or not covered by insurance, e.g Fertility medications“Cancer drugs, the growing GLP-1 market, diabetes drugs, asthma drugs,” Siegel said.

“Even with the discounts offered through TrumpRx or through its partnership with GoodRx — where you go from Trump Rx to an online pharmacy (with a prescription) or to the manufacturer — these medications are still expensive,” he added.

What is included

This first release on the market focuses on several key medicines, meaning not all patients will find what they need. Currently, TrumpRx is focused on combating obesity Medications (weight loss). Like GLP-1 agonists — although Osborne said “this is exactly where the national attention should be.”

“Obesity is not a cosmetic issue — it is a metabolic epidemic, a disease that leads to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, some cancers, dementia and massive health spending,” he said.

“Anything that makes prices more visible and pushes them lower is a step in the right direction.”

At TrumpRx, Ozempic and Wegovy injections (for diabetes and obesity, respectively), can cost about $350 per month on average, down from about $1,000, with some doses as low as $199 per month. Wijovi pills It can be up to $149 per month.

The price of Zepbound, Eli Lilly’s obesity drug, can fall to about $346 a month on average, or as high as $299 depending on the dose.

Medications commonly used to treat infertility, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, dermatitis, hot flashes, and osteoporosis are also included.

Osbourne praised the platform for “not trying to be everything.”

“more Guided platform “Like TrumpRx – highlighting drugs that treat ‘root’ diseases sends a MAHA signal,” he said. “It shows people what matters.”

He praised Novo Nordisk, maker of Ozempic and Wegovy Platform launch.

“We are continuing to make it easier for people to access our original FDA-approved medications by expanding availability through multiple, convenient options,” said Chris Birney, associate vice president of U.S. public affairs, referring to NovoCare Pharmacy, the company’s direct-to-patient channel that launched in March 2025.

“The launch of TrumpRx will increase patient access to Ozempic and Wegovy, including the newly approved Wegovy pills, at our self-pay rates,” Bernie added in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.

Limitations and caveats

Osborne cautioned that some medications may not always be cheaper than insurance once deductibles are met.

He pointed out that “cash payments (accessed through platform coupons) are not counted within the pocketbook limits.” “And comparing TrumpRx prices to the listed prices can make the discounts on the site appear greater than they really are.”

In a New commentCato health policy expert Dr. Jeffrey Singer acknowledged that direct-to-consumer drug sales could help lower prices, but noted that federal government control of the system could pose a risk.

“President Trump is right that direct-to-consumer drug sales could bring back cost sensitivity and put pressure on prices,” Singer wrote. “But A Government-run platform It risks crowding out private competition and reintroducing political patronage into a market that has already become more consumer-oriented.

Siegel also noted that there is some concern about the impact on pharmaceutical R&D, “at a time of great innovation and personalized solutions.”

“I’m also concerned about more cheap copies appearing here as a result, especially with weight loss drugs,” he added.

Overall, Osborne said he believes TrumpRx can help “flip the script” on the “death spiral of chronic disease management.”

“Lower drug costs should be viewed as an American victory, not a partisan victory,” he said. “This is a quest towards the centre, not towards the right or the left. Although he is right.”
