DHS accuses Illinois Gov Pritzker of spreading ‘smorgasbord of lies’

Pritzker then added, “In the tiny suburban hamlet of Broadview, population 8,000, federal agents turned two protest blocks into a war zone by firing tear gas over chemical agents at peaceful demonstrators.”

“The riot against DHS and other law enforcement in Illinois was anything but peaceful. “The First Amendment protects speech and peaceful association — not riot. DHS takes reasonable and constitutional measures to uphold the rule of law and protect our employees,” DHS said in response. “ICE officers are facing a nearly 1,000% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members. We remind members of the media to exercise caution as they cover these violent riots and remind journalists to cover these illegal activities in the field.
