Lily Collins will play the role of legendary actress and icon Audrey Hepburn.

Collins was scheduled to play Hepburn in a film A movie based on the book “Fifth Avenue, 5 a.m.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman” by Sam Wason.

The film will focus on a specific period in Hepburn’s career, when she filmed “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” in 1961.

Fans seem to be divided over her choice, despite her resemblance to the star, with some calling it a “bold choice.”

However, her son, Sean Hepburn Ferrer, expressed his excitement about the casting.

Ferrer, who wrote the autobiographyIntimate Audrey“I love Lily Collins,” he told Fox News Digital. Sam Wasson, the writer of the book, is a good friend of mine and I’m very happy for him. “I don’t have any big ideas about the film because it hasn’t been produced yet.”

“I think my mother might be upset by Dawn of the Modern Woman, but she is upset by any compliment,” Ferrer noted. “And now she has two films in the works, this one and Dinner with Audrey.”

Adding: “I’m not sure how to adapt to such a ‘historical snapshot’.”

Fans took to social media to discuss the casting news.

Some described her as “the perfect choice”, as Collins was “the most perfect person to play Audrey Hepburn”, while others said: “Don’t do it”. [sic] “Trouble me love you don’t look like Audrey, she was just one and will never be replaced by you or anyone else,” another said: “Are you kidding me? You’re not like her.”

Experts noted that although this is a “difficult thing to pull off,” the key to Collins’ success in this role lies in her performance and whether she can embody the essence of the Oscar winner.

Taking on a role like this “can be a field full of land mines,” says Professor Charlie Keel, of the University of Toronto’s Institute of Film Studies.

“When a contemporary star plays an iconic figure from the past, he can be judged by many different criteria. If that character is someone like Audrey Hepburn, who has been immortalized on screen in many iconic roles, that will be a much greater challenge,” Kyle said.

Kyle said Hepburn “set the standard for elegance in the 1950s”: “She was at the forefront of fashion trends, she had perfect style, and she was born in Europe,” noting that she had a “distinctive voice and a slight accent. Many of her fans remember her fondly as graceful, almost aristocratic, but also a bit rebellious and deceptively insecure at times,” adding that “that’s a hard line to live up to.”

Kyle said fans “don’t necessarily want a carbon copy” of Hepburn, but rather “they’re looking for a new way to think about a familiar star and the performance should give them that.”

Kyle gave Natalie Portman’s role as Jackie Kennedy in “Jackie” as an example, and how it gave “a certain purchase on the former First Lady, not a blanket imitation of every known aspect of a famous person’s personality.”

Kyle added: “Don’t imitate Miz. Show that, as an actress, you exercise some control over how you envision and reimagine the legend. And of course, I hope the material you’re starring in is worth the risk.”

Paul Snee, who, along with business partner Kerry Bardeen, has starred in films such as “The Help,” “Winter’s Bone,” “Dallas Buyers Club” and “Spotlight,” called Collins “a wonderful actress,” noting that “her vague resemblance to Audrey would be a help, but talent trumps that.”

Sunni said, “A vague resemblance is sufficient, but not always,” noting that what works best for the viewer is “embodying the essence of the person.”

He and Barden played the role of Snow White in the movie “Mirror Mirror,” noting that “her talent went beyond her genes,” in reference to her being the daughter of a musician. Phil Collins.

It boils down to performance: “The better the actor, the less emphasis there is on physical appearance,” says Schnee, who cast Jennifer Lawrence in “Winter’s Bone.”

Collins revealed The project has been in the works Nearly 10 years ago, in a post she shared on Instagram after the casting news was announced in late February, she noted that she felt “proud and ecstatic.”

“After nearly 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey, I’m finally able to share this. Honored and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…” she wrote on her Instagram page.

Collins has been open about her love for the icon, often sharing photos of her on her Instagram.

Howard Fine of Howard Fine Acting Studio, who worked with Austin Butler as Elvis Presley in “Elvis,” and Galen Best as Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali. In “The Greatest” and Carla Gugino as Vivien Leigh in “Vivien & the Florist,” she said, “The challenge when playing an iconic character is not to do an imitation.”

“If Austin had done an Elvis imitation, it would have been the end of his career and not winning awards,” Fine said. “The actor has to find the place where the character lives within himself.”

Hepburn was known for her distinctive voice and rhythm, something Collins would have to focus on perfecting.

Fine added, “I am a firm believer in voice and dialect to master the distinctive accents and vocal patterns that Audrey Hepburn had. However, the actor must find the character behind the patterns in order to move away from her hollow imitation.”

Fine said the actor “should avoid imitating” the actor, and instead focus on “inhabiting the spirit that motivated the behavior.”

Fine said the actor must ask himself: “Who am I as a character and then how do I find the character within me. The vocal and physical manifestations of the characters must become second nature. The actor needs to practice until everything becomes easy, so that we no longer see the acting.”
