In 1643, Evangelista Torricelli used a mercury tube to measure pressure for the first time. In 1897, German mechanical engineer Rudolf Diesel invented the diesel engine with financial assistance from the Krupp family, financiers of the Third Reich. Four thousand years ago, the Egyptians invented the pump. Collectively, the above are the bedrock of hydraulic fracturing.
In 1949, Halliburton performed its first-ever hydraulic fracturing operation. In 1865, E. A. Roberts received a patent for loading a torpedo with nitroglycerin and dropping it into shallow Pennsylvania wells.
Fracking is a sciencebut not dark. To date, there have been approximately 2,000,000 hydraulic fracturing jobs in the United States, and my company alone has completed thousands of them without incident. However, the public was slow to understand, skeptical or mistrustful. This is mostly a byproduct of culture wars and the rich deceiving the poor, but more on that below.
Through the process, rock mechanics determines the pressure needed to fracture an oil and gas formation. Completion engineers use that data to calculate fracture stress, propagation, and magnitude Mud frac required, and at what rate it should be pumped. The hydraulic crushing company then mobilizes on site along with the telecommunications company. Wire lines isolate the wellbore a few hundred feet at a time into “stages,” shooting twenty or thirty holes through the casing and then withdrawing. The fracking fleet begins with a mixture of water, sand and chemicals that is pumped down the vertical section of the wellbore, a mile or two deep, and then into the horizontal section for another two, three or four miles. Most shale is pumped at a rate of 3,800 gallons per minute for surface pressures of 10,000 +/- psi.
Pumping continues for a few hours, creating a network of permeability that allows oil and gas to flow back into the wellbore. The process is repeated, often more than 50 times for one well. The reason this technique works is that although an oil and gas formation may only be fifty vertical feet thick, rotating the drill bit horizontally exposes the same formation for two, three, or four miles. That’s a multiple of 210 to 420, which is an amazing difference. What’s more, it was a revolutionary breakthrough credited to a wild Houstonian named George Mitchell, the son of Greek immigrants, who spent his own millions proving that you could mate Drilling horizontal wells By fracking at a high rate to release hydrocarbons from the source rock – the shale (where oil and gas form) – rather than the sandstone and carbonate rocks where the oil and gas accumulate.
By the end of the mission, millions of pounds of silica sand are being pumped out, which no one cares much about, however Pumping millions of gallons of water It is a flashpoint. This number may seem incalculable, until you compare it to the game of golf. Irrigating golf courses in the United States uses more water than fracking operations in North America, and little of it is recycled. Also keep in mind that golf swing does not produce any energy. It also doesn’t save the planet, although that’s debatable.
Another flashpoint is Chemicals used in frac function. Polyacrylamide reduces friction and is toxic in large concentrations, but it is also used in cosmetics, moisturizers, shampoos and sunscreens, where it is also toxic in large concentrations. Guar, another commonly used friction buffer and viscosity remover, is made from edible bean extract. Clay stabilizers such as choline chloride are cheap and non-toxic in running quantities. Biocides are similar to household bleach and chlorine used in swimming pool water. The acid is used in small quantities that become benign with activation. The truth is that there is not much residual toxicity left in the chemicals. If you think otherwise, watch Chris Wright drink a cup of FARC Liquid. Chris is the current US Secretary of Energy and is still alive to this day.
American energy dominance gives us the ability to repel enemies and save Venezuela
Hydraulic fracturing does not “destabilize” the Earth, as I recently heard, nor will it contaminate the Earth’s fresh water supply. I have never seen Interference in the aquifer. never. The fear of wastewater is also fading as other companies, like mine, recycle their wastewater into fracking water. Electric fracking fleets are replacing diesel fleets in an effort to combat emissions. It was the makers of Frackers and their customers who started it all themselves. No legislation required this.
But it is illogical that fracking remains an abused and misunderstood business. Although it is ridiculously politicized, fracking is a cornerstone of US energy construction. Three-quarters of total U.S. production comes from fracked wells. This means nine million barrels out of thirteen. If you abolish the nine, as is desired by the Park Foundation (which funded… Misleading anti-crack documentaries), the Heinz Endowments, and the Schmidt Family Foundation, we will live in a dog-eat-dog world of energy competition. Their goals would be an entirely suicidal concept, as killing one thing that works – always – is cheap, and doesn’t change the planet in any meaningful way, in favor of something that works intermittently, cannot scale to meet need, is expensive and has its own climate problems.

per Climatologist Björn LomborgTo become fully electric, three months of battery backup will be needed. Currently, the United States has the equivalent of ten minutes! The cost of getting there in three months would be nearly a third of US GDP ($10 trillion annually). The environmental result will be a hellscape of melting, acid rain and deforestation. But surely these wealthy institutions and their trustees and beneficiaries must have thought about this, right?
Then suddenly we have Artificial intelligence with power-hungry data centersSilicon Valley turned to natural gas. Here lies a small break for hydraulic fracturing. Realizing that it is essential for life on Earth.
