Prince Harry emotional in court over Meghan Markle media treatment allegations

Prince Harry fought back tears in court when speaking about his wife, Meghan Markle.
On Wednesday, the Duke of Sussex spent two and a half hours on the witness stand in his lawsuit against Associated Newspapers, publishers of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.
The 41-year-old appeared visibly emotional, telling the High Court in London that the Daily Mail had made Meghan’s life “absolute misery”. When he left, Harry looked shaken and was still sniffling.

Harry and six other claimants, including Elton John and… Elizabeth Hurleyare suing over alleged privacy violations from the early 1990s through the 2000s. They claim that UK tabloids have engaged in the “clear, systematic and sustained use of illegal information gathering” for two decades, according to lawyer David Sherborne.
Associated newspapers denied these accusations, calling them “preposterous.” The nearly 50 articles in question were based on legitimate sources, including acquaintances willing to talk about their famous friends, the publisher said.

Harry admitted the coverage made him “incredibly paranoid” and claimed the outlet wanted to “drive me into drugs and drinking to sell more papers.”
He said his mother’s death marked the beginning of his “tense relationship” with the media. But as “Member of the institution“, referring to the royal family, was forced to follow a policy of “never complain, never explain.”
He added: “There was no alternative. I was conditional to accept it.”
