Dr. Salvador Plascencia was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Sherrilyn Pace Garnett.

“So many people, mostly mothers, have told me over the years how something like this breaks you, makes you feel broken. And I didn’t fully understand what that meant until I saw what this thing did to Matthew’s mother. And it still is, two years later. It’s a deep well, I can’t see the bottom yet.”

Morrison continued: “She warned me – Susan – when we got serious about each other, that no man could come between her and that boy.” “She certainly did not expect that addiction would do this very thing, or that he would be hastened to an early death at the hands of people he trusted.”

Morrison wrote that Plascencia is “the most culpable” of the five defendants in Perry’s death, as the former doctor broke “the most important and sacred promise he ever made,” the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm.
He continued: “No person alive and in contact with the world could ever be unaware of Matthew’s struggles. But this doctor conspired to break his most important vows, and repeatedly crept through the night to meet his victim in secret. For what, a few thousand dollars? So he could feed on our son’s weakness.”
Plasencia agreed to plead guilty in June to four counts of distributing ketamine. This petition carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.

“Mr. Plasencia accepts today’s court ruling with humility and deep remorse,” his representatives said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital. “He was a compassionate, caring and conscientious physician, and his practice filled a void in the community that needed him.”

The statement continued: “He was a good doctor and was loved by those he treated. He is not evil. He is someone who made serious errors in his treatment decisions including the unauthorized use of ketamine – a drug commonly used to treat depression that has no uniform standards.”
“The mistakes he made during the 13 days during which he treated Mr. Perry will remain with him forever.”
They added: “Mr. Plascencia voluntarily surrendered his medical license. He will now continue to serve his community in other meaningful ways. He hopes this painful experience will help other doctors avoid similar mistakes and prevent other families from having to endure a tragedy like this.”

U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Martin Estrada said at one point that the defendants distributed approximately “20 vials worth approximately $50,000 in cash” to Perry for Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth (Kenny) Iwamasa, to distribute to the actor. During another sale, dealers “exploited Mr. Perry” by selling approximately “50 vials of ketamine for approximately $11,000 in cash.”
Placencia, a source of ketamineIt was introduced to Perry by his assistant in September 2023. Plasencia, who obtained ketamine from Dr. Mark Chavez, allegedly taught the assistant how to inject Perry with the drug.

The vials of ketamine allegedly cost Chavez about $12 each. At one point, Plasencia wrote to Chavez, “I wonder how much this idiot will pay” and “Let us find out.”

Chavez agreed to plead guilty to a charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine as part of a plea agreement. The San Diego-based doctor admitted to selling ketamine to Plasencia, including ketamine he transferred from his previous ketamine clinic.
Iwamasa pleaded guilty Aug. 7 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death, and, according to Estrada, has already entered a plea agreement.

Additional drugs were allegedly secured through the “Ketamine Queen”, also known as Jasvin Sangha, and middleman Eric Fleming.
Fleming pleaded guilty on August 8 to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distributing ketamine resulting in death. Fleming admitted in court documents that he distributed the ketamine that killed Perry. He also agreed to a plea deal.
