Charlie Sheen opens up about cocaine addiction and path to sobriety

Charlie Sheen has maintained his berth nearly eight years ago – an achievement that he says is proud of decades of public battles with addiction.

The actor, 60, withdraws the curtain on his turbulent past in new notes, “Shin Book.” In that, the star tracks his rise to fame with films such as “Platoon” and “Wall Street”, his reign as a wage star on the TV and the detection that followed. Shin also appeared in new Netflix documents, “Aka Charlie Sheen”, as it is reflected in his recovery.

“I really decided to move at this amazing stage,” Shen told Fox News Digital. “Dope and Booze, at these levels, this is a young game. This is not for us for Aarp.”

“In fact, there are no challenges with sobriety,” he said. “I am not connected to the individuals of the past … If I would return to these options to nominate myself, get out of my head, or feel differently, I have so much evidence that it will not make things worse and more complicated. I was suddenly in shame. However, deception and treatment comes. All of this does not fit anymore.”

Shin said he could not remember a moment when he realized that chasing extremism could kill him.

“I was never a man who saw these things threatening life,” he said. “If I did it, I may never do it. This is why I did not do heroin at all, because I knew that I would do it once and die or do it every day for the rest of my life until it died. There is this first intervention on my father’s fifty birthday. That was a moment I was already grateful to this intervention.”

Then later … I was married to Dennis [Richards]. The show was going wonderfully. We had a nice new house and a child on the road. Then I made the unwanted decision to start taking birth control pills because I can do it. Nobody can smell birth control pills on your breath. “

“How stupid was this,” he laughed at himself. “This turned into something.”

“I was escaping from the minute, then I will restore it … … it was continuing back and forth either to get out of the toxins or look to the next dose. If you live constantly between these two moments, you never do at the present time.”

In his book, Shin described that he consumes what he called the “Holy Trinity” – mixing cocaine, cigarettes and porn.

“[Why?] He said: “First of all, because of how well he felt, anyone who struggled with addiction … Many of them will tell you the same. I wouldn’t do it at this level in those groups if the vast majority did not feel it.”

After several failed attempts, Shin said he needs to follow a different approach if he wanted to clean and stay this way.

“I don’t think someone is addicted to alcohol when they don’t drink,” he said. “I don’t think someone is addicted to drugs when they do not take drugs. I do not believe in the disease model. Once I can stop worshiping this model, I started looking at it a lot differently.”

“See, sometimes the amount of access to something to something,” continued. “It may take its own life. It is a better feeling than any of the other things that you do. Then this will be the thing that you do in the face of job responsibility and family responsibility. Addiction behavior? I do not deny that. But I do not believe that, away from these things, I have a secret demon who lives in my mind that wants to kill me every second every day.”

Shin still tests what he calls “shame” – feelings of sudden guilt on his past. He previously said that he had spent his fifties apologizing to those who were injured.

“What I say to myself is that I cannot return to that moment, regardless of the debris, and bring a simple element from it to the present time,” he said.

Charlie Shen embraced his daughter Lula Shin.

“This does not mean that it should be fully forgotten. I keep a lot of these things close … … shivering shame, they did not come out of anywhere. But they are far more than these days than it was.

Today, Shin is looking forward to the future with “great optimism”. While he maintained a low level since he became sober, he has not ruled out a return to show works.

“I have always said that I want to be consistent, but it cannot be predicted,” I explained. “I read materials to be presented to me. It’s the best things I have read in 20 years. They are talking about my book option. There is something in the air now. I can feel it and taste it. It’s exciting. It’s electric.

“I haven’t been in a moment like this for two decades, and I am really grateful for that.”

Shin is also the co -founder of the new Non -alcoholic beer, wild AF.
