Seven months after her disappearance, Fatis was arrested and charged with killing her.
But the case took a turning point after three weeks when investigators discovered Fotis, who did not respond inside his house in a clear suicide attempt.
In a note that was found near him, “his innocence of the nefarious and democratic crimes accused by the state and claimed that his lawyer had evidence to prove this,” his lawyers wrote on the court file.
Fotis was transferred to a nearby medical center in New York City, where he died later.
Cohen said: “I found her chilling for her,” Cohen said. “When I got to the story, I really came to believe that he was mentally ill.”

Troconis was also arrested, along with lawyer Kent Mawhinney, and was charged with conspiracy to commit a murder after the police revealed that she helped Fotis to cover up his wife’s disappearance while working to create an excuse.

Last year, Troconis was convicted of all charges against her, including conspiracy to kill Jennifer. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
“This last book, like many before it, is just another attempt to take advantage of the tragedy, speculation and improvement,” Trukonis’s lawyer, Darnell Crossland, said in a statement to the digital newspaper Fox News. “Michelle Trukonis has been distorted for years based on the accounts that ignore the facts and evidence. She continues to preserve her innocence and looks forward to clearing her name through appropriate legal channels, and not the public opinion court or pages published similar to the tablide.”
Mohini acknowledged that he was guilty of less than interfering with the police in the case and was sentenced to 11 months in prison – equivalent to how much time he had already spent behind bars.
