BBC News, Johannesburg

The two largest political parties in South Africa in an unhappy marriage, but none of the parties want to present divorce papers because it can harm them, and eventually their voters – South Africa.
But as children know from all the toxic relationships, it may be painful to see the anger attacks that have been played in public places where each side tries to prove that they are the best parents.
The beloved union in this case is the so -called government of national unity (GNU) – which was formed in the wake of the elections last year when the African National Congress (ANC) lost the party that brought democratic rule in 1994 with Nelson Mandela, the majority of Parliament.
Its rival, Sagittarius, a pro -business coalition party (DA), agreed to join the African National Congress as its largest partner in an alliance, which just celebrated its first anniversary. There was no appearance of champagne – there were only cross words.
But the two leaders, President Cyril Ramaphosa of the African National Congress Party and John Steinosson of Da, showed how their partnership could do perfectly when they support each other in the face of the Oval Office with US President Donald Trump in May.
After Trump faced the delegation with a video clip to support credible claims from the white genocide in South Africa, Steenhuisen – Minister of Agriculture of the Council of Ministers of Ramavusa – who assured the US President that the majority of white farmers wanted to stay in the country.
Their performance of South Africa has proven that GNU deserves quarrels at home.
Together, the unlikely couple holds the political Middle East in South Africa and has the ability to be a stability force – this is certainly the opinion of major business.
Their alliance raised some eyebrows, given that they opposed “ideologically [and] Historically, “but the business community has greatly welcomed this step.
For Da, it was an opportunity to put its hands on the tools of power – and stop what is considered by radical opposition parties such as UMKHONTO Wesizwe (MK) and economic freedom fighters (EFF) that constitute the “Judgment Day coalition” with the African National Congress Party.
These two parties are led by former African National Congress officials who prefer Ramavusa not warm – in addition to making the cabinet more than the battlefield.
Also, investors will not be happy – Ramavusa will be left with migraines more than headaches.
However, any relationship advisor will tell you, you cannot force someone to change his behavior.
“This GNU … does not mean that the African National Congress Party or Da will change their personalities,” said Dr. Nado, who is based at the Chawan University of Technology in South Africa.
“The African National Congress Party will always want to pay the agenda, and DA will always come with reaction strategies and … that will be a permanent source of conflict in GNU.”

The latest crisis – Ramavusa has to dismiss Andrew and Witfield, deputy minister from the Da party He really disturbed Steenhuisen, who held a press conference that in detail his heartfelt complaints.
These include Ramaphosa’s decisions to move forward in various parts of controversial legislation “that have long -term consequences for our economy and economic development, as we have seen some of the largest commercial partners in South Africa.”
This is a sign of the anger of the United States on the law that will be given The state is the ability to confiscate some lands owned by private ownership without compensation for their owners.
“This has been done without even the joint courtesy of informing his fellow partners in the national unity government about his intention to do so,” Steinoicon said.
He also talked about the budget crisis, when the Minister of Finance in March, Enook Jodnagwana, suggested 2 % long -distance walking.
The reverse reaction – which included court procedures, led by DA – forced him to cancel the proposal.
This is not the only time that DA has taken legal measures – playing the opposition card while it is part of GNU.
Its opposition to the confiscation law is inconsistent with the fact that the Minister of Public Works Dean McFireson – a member of DA – has defended the legislation and will be responsible for its implementation.
It refers to the divisions within DA – with one of the two wings led by Steenhuisen, believing that it is better to be in the tent, but another conservative faction that is angry with what it considers “the hypocrisy” of the African National Congress.
“In some cases, the DA ministers have literally achieved more than 12 months than the African National Congress Party ministers in 30 years,” said Stinoyen.
However, he headed to critics within the party, he was severely stumbled on the corruption of the alleged cabinet by members of the African National Congress Party: “The president’s refusal to act against corruption within its ranks, but it is from the priority of the DA minister risking that his repeated public commitment to fair rule is a Levant.”
This means, Steinhoicon said that Da will not support the budgets of the departments led by those that the corrupt considered, which includes higher education, led by Nobohn Nakaban.
She was criticized for her appointment to politicians of the African National Congress Party to head the various vocational training councils – and to the misleading parliament on their appointment.
Ramaphosa refused to comply with the collision DA, after the dismissal of Whitfield, to remove it and others, is the corrupt party.
However, the president must also deal with factions in his party – there are instigators, like his deputy, who prefer EFF.
To some extent, Ramavusa allowed to continue to continue playing a dual role – from the opposition and a GNU member – but sometimes he loves to explain who the president is.
This is what happened to the dismissal of Witfield as the Deputy Minister of Commerce – was dismissed for his authenticity in February.
When South Africa’s relationship with the United States took a diving earlier in the year, Witfield traveled to the United States as part of the DA delegation. He has repeatedly requested permission to do this, but he did not receive any answer from the presidency.
The 42 -year -old is from the East Cape Province, the heart of the automotive industry in South Africa, which benefits from the African Growth and Opportunities Law in the United States (AIR). This legislation guarantees exempt from the customs duties of American consumers for some goods from Africa.
Ina – which was presented 25 years ago by former US President Bill Clinton – has been renewed this year, but some fear of this will not happen in view of Trump’s identification wars and the Congress dominated by Republicans.
Witfield went to the United States as part of the DA delegation to press for South Africa to stay in Awaya, which also takes advantage of the Steenhuisen Agricultural Portfolio.

For Steenhuisen, the alleged lack of the African National Congress Party to cooperation means failure to create job opportunities and GNU stalling the goals of economic growth.
Political analyst Sandley Swana believes that Ramavusa and the African National Congress Party may be dissatisfied with some DA drama – with court procedures and calm – but they are free to divide the roads completely.
It blames the lack of self -confidence, and the BBC tells: “The current African National Congress Party has a large knot and they depend on large business and Da.”
Dr. Nado also suggests that Ramavusa may play a diplomat, and does not want the side to start the divorce because the African National Congress Party does not want everyone to say that they have taken out DA from the government. “
The two voters may punish both sides if this is the case.
“There is no way to make DA easily to withdraw from GNU. It is in the interest of DA, as a party, and those who are appointed as ministers [to stay]The academic said.
Mr. Swana believes that the coalition government as a whole is a “marketing platform” for all parties, which it uses for the campaign before the local government elections next year.
DA has made clear at the weekend that there would be no major advertisement about them, they left GNU, but Steenhisen warned that the party’s CEO had thought about launching a proposal without confidence in the president – and he may do so in the future.
“It is clear that Da is in the process of losing confidence in the president’s ability to work as a leader not only for the African National Congress Party, but from Gnu, which we are the second largest component,” said Stinoyeen.
Ramavusa was clearly shook over the weekend – South Africa’s news site stated that he had canceled an official trip to Spain at the last minute, where he was waiting for the DA decision regarding the future of GNU.
Steenhuisen’s speech revealed what appears to be a real coalition collapse – with a blame for Da Ramaphosa leader for his failure to combine GNU leaders to settle matters after a crisis.
“Likewise, the proposed secession of the Council of Ministers to deal with how we interact with each other and resolve the conflicts that will inevitably arise in a government consisting of 10 political parties, after a year nothing happened,” he said.
“No separation, there is no dialogue or internal mechanisms to determine how we deal with conflicts between each other when they arise.”
The marriage consultant definitely suggests that they stop the homeless, sit and speak frankly – without the loudspeaker policy.
